Har haft problem med att ansluta en kamera till datorn som kan ses i den här tråden http://ubuntu-se.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=222&t=54973 men nu över gick problemet till att vara ett problem med läsning av externa enheter mer generellt.

Fick ett infall och kopplade in en vanlig usb-sticka (Kingston DataTraveler) och konstaterar att inte heller den behagar att ansluta till datorn och när jag körde dmesg så fick jag device descriptor read/64, error -84 även här.

Iallafall har jag kanske hittat en förklaring på nätet, kanske någon mer lite insatt i linux kan översätta så jag begriper.

Kan ju även tillägga att när jag hade XP så påpekade datorn varje gång att det var en låghastighetsport och att enheten skulle fungera bättre vid användande av höghastighetsport.

Har fyra usb-portar på datorn och samtliga portar fungerar, så tillvida att mus, tangentbord, extern hårddisk, kamera KonicaMinolta X21, kamera Nikon Coolpix 2100 och kortläsare går att läsa in från samtliga.

Det som inte går att ansluta är kamera (Samsung WB600 med minneskort SDHC Transcend 4GB) och usbminne (Kingston DataTraveler 8GB). Vid anslutning går de ej att se som externa masslagringenheter, dock noterar datorn att de kopplats in vid användande av kommandot lsusb.

Efter att ha googlat runt en del så lutar min gissning åt att detta har något med inställningar för usb-porten att göra. Hur kan man då med något kommando se hur inställningarna ser ut och var gör man eventuellt ändringar...autosuspend är det jag tänker på.

Värt testa Livecd av Knoppix och PCLinuxOS. Knoppix är erkänd för vara utomordentligt bra Livecd (kanske rentav den bästa), men är inte anpassad för en vanlig installation. Testa och se om Knoppix löser kamerakrångel. Det är även värt ge PCLinuxOS som är en grym Livecd likt Knoppix som autokonfigurerar så gott som allt. Styrkan med PCLinuxOS den är bättre än Knoppix vid vanlig installation. Då jag är slut på förslag kan det vara bra veta om ditt problem är Ubuntu specifik eller inte. Du behöver som sagt inte installera någon utan testa dem i Livecd miljö och se om det fungerar.

Edit:
Det kan vara värt att testa Windows med hjälp av Virtualbox. Då flesta har en Windows skiva släpande någonstans. Virtualbox är rätt så smidigt.

Har så testat PCLinuxOS KDE Desktop och inte heller här fungerar det att koppla in masslagringsenheter. Har även formaterat om stickan till FAT32 via sambons XP och det gjorde heller ingen skillnad.

Testade du Digikam i PCLinuxOS? Kollade du ner vid klockan efter "underrättelse om enheter" (för enheter som ska monteras/avmonteras) widgeten? Fick du samma kommando resultat som i Ubuntu? Det finns något som heter "Anpassa skrivbordet"/Configure your Desktop (?) och där ska det finnas något som heter "Flyttbara enheter". Du kan testa då ställa in den på "Aktivera automatisk montering av flyttbara medier". Heter nog annat på engelska då du bootar upp med livecd.

Ytterligare ensak man kan göra i PCLinuxOS. Öppna "Konfigurera din Dator", det är samma sak som PCLinuxOS kontroll central. Där finns det massa saker man kan göra. Klicka vidare på "Hårdvara" och slutligen "Bläddra och konfigurera hårdvara". Därifrån är det rätt så uppenbart/talande. Lycka till!

Det kan även vara idé att söka på datornamnet, men det kanske du redan har gjort...

Med det fel du beskriver nu, så gör det nog ingen större skillnad att prova andra distar.
Vad jag kan tänka mej, det är om du har en gammal dator så kanske det kan vara idé att prova med en äldre utgåva av Ubuntu eller Kubuntu.

Hur gammal? Hmm, ingen aning. Har köpt den begagnad för dryga årets sedan då min förra dator kraschade. Bios säger: BIOS EDD facility v0.16 2004-Jun-25 så låt säga 5-8år gammal då.

En sak jag såg när jag gick in via PCLInuxOS och navigerade mig fram till flyttbara enheter och ställde in den på aktivera automatisk montering av flyttbara medier, så var det en massa som låg i listan över bortkopplade enheter bl.a. en enhet på 7,5GB som ju då kan stämma in på stickan. Får titta på det där med PCLinuxOS kontrollcentral sen och se hur det ser ut.

Så här ser då loggarna ut i PCLinux nu direkt efter uppstart, en liten skillnad så tillvida att nu känner ju fakiskt operativet till USB-stickan med ett namn även om den inte läser in den.

Under anpassa skrivbordet, removable discs finns mycket riktigt alternativet enable automount och jag bockar i rutan och klickar apply. Tar ur stickan eftersom den inte syns och sätter i den igen, den återfinns inte under attached devices men däremot finns det en lång kedja med enheter under disconnected devices däribland hittar jag min andra hårddisk och även usbstickan samt någon cdskiva och flyter jag med musen över dessa så får jag information om att hårddisken skall monteras automatiskt vid inloggning och att usbstickan inte skall monteras varken vid login eller vid anslutning. Bockar så i att jag visst vill att usbstickan skall monteras vid anslutning, klickar apply och fortfarande händer ingenting.

Frågan är ju varför det ligger så mycket där under disconnected devices, för kör jag en liveskiva så bör den väl inte ha lagrat tidigare misslyckade anslutnings försök eller?

Det kan även vara idé att söka på datornamnet, men det kanske du redan har gjort...

Med det fel du beskriver nu, så gör det nog ingen större skillnad att prova andra distar.
Vad jag kan tänka mej, det är om du har en gammal dator så kanske det kan vara idé att prova med en äldre utgåva av Ubuntu eller Kubuntu.


Skall se om jag hittar någon äldre version av Ubuntu eller Kubuntu som LiveCd och se om där blir någon skillnad.

Jepp, har läst men inte testat det på kameran ännu. Just nu har jag fokuserat på att få se om det går att få kommunikation med usb-stickan via ett eller annat OP på LiveCD.

Nu lutar det nog åt att Köra in Windows på ett eller annat vis ändå, har 400 svartvita inscannade bilder ligger på hårddisken som ska kopieras in på sticka för identifiering.

Felmeddelandena kvarstår och jag lutar åt att det är något som buggar mellan mitt moderkort och Linux kernel på något vis, för problemen är desamma i Ubuntu, Kubuntu ch PCLinuxOS.

Den snabba lösningen blev således att installera Virtualbox och så WinXP. Nu återstår att lösa detta med delning.

Bra att det fungerade tillslut med något av förslagen jag rekommendera ;D. Delning är inga problem. Busenkelt faktiskt:

Delning i XP är tom lättare än Windows 7.

Sedan i XP klickar du på "Mina nätverksplatser" och där inne finns mappen du skapat för dela mellan din primära OS och din virtualbox installation av XP. Done! :)
